Close to home and just taken for granted is the beautiful Jasper Park. It is right in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
The bright yellow leaves bring a message of inpending snow.

Mount Pocahontas named after an old legend about a chief who guarded the pass.
During late spring the snow on the mountain looks like the feathers of his head dress.
The cooler days of fall bring the desire to mate, to fight for the right to lead the herd.
This beautiful bull elk is eating wild shrubs.
Soon he will be depending on stored energy to tide him through mating season till spring.
This pole was created to remember two Haida brothers. It is the raven totem pole.

An interesting thing about mountain water is that it is blue/turquoise.
The color comes from rock particals ground up by glaciers high up the mountain.
